About Goals within
the Film and Video Industry

I can remember that I have always been drawn to the flights of imagination and the story development in movies. I discovered early on that I could predict the sequences in the movies that I watched. Movies taught me about the world and people. I learned the history of the Greek and Roman civilizations and Viking stories from the motion picture films. I learned of great events and great people real and imaginary and was inspired. That's power! The power to make us dream. The power to make us laugh and cry. The power to shape our emotions, our thoughts and even our lives. In college at Delaware State University, I acted in several theatrical plays. The one that I remember best is Thornton Wilder's “Our Town”. Many years later in Atlanta Georgia, I got to be an extra in “The Right Stuff” and later another film starring Juliet Mills (but can't remember the film name). It doesn't matter since all scenes that I was in for both films ended up on the cutting room floor. In August 2007, I was in Los Angeles for three days at David S. Freeman’s Beyond Structure film-writers workshop; and I have studied film making at West Valley College in Saratoga California and studied many good film writing books such as Robert McKee's Story and Dr. Linda Seger's Advanced Screenwriting: Raising your Script to the Academy Award Level and others. I invested in a copy of Movie Magic Screenwriter screenplay writing software several years ago before returning to school full time at DeVry University in Fremont California. I receive my first Bachelor of Science degree in February 2008 and my second degree later in 2008. It is a major part of my business planning to produce and sell screenplays that go on to become successful Hollywood films.

About Goals within
the Video Game Industry

When I enrolled in DeVry University three years ago in 2005, I put my Internet (ISP) and other business activities on hold; and I had only a vague idea that I wanted to re-educate myself and to gain new higher level technical business skills in electronics, networking, computer systems and web applications to re-structure my business. After meeting with Admissions, I selected the Bachelor of Science in Technology Management with a Biomedical Engineering emphasis. Now, after three years, I am completing my senior project and graduating this semester, in February 2008, with a degree in Technology Management and have only a couple more semesters of electronics courses, in order to earn a second Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Engineering.

Along the way, I also took many non-required courses in programming and networking; and am now finishing a course in Game and Simulation Programming. My initial reason for taking GSP was to learn skills to create medical and health related educational simulations but I had zero interest in playing games, developing games, or working for a game developer employer.

I also had no interest in working for an employer in technology management or biomedical engineering. Therefore, when it came time to choose and to plan my senior project, my original reason for education had to resurface – to gain new higher level technical business skills …to re-structure my business. Simulation was to be a part of the business plan from the very beginning but over time game development also begin to fit in. In the GSP course I learned that the story element in games is similar to the story development in film screenplay writing – another of my pursuits. Four months ago, I was in Los Angeles for three days at David S. Freeman’s film-writers workshop; and I have studied film making at West Valley College in Saratoga California and studied many film writing books. Primarily, I am now intrigued by the business aspects of the game industry, such as the huge and growing multibillion dollar international market and its infinite longevity. Finally, since I already have an extensive network and hundreds of websites, and ecommerce assets, the computer and on-line game genres would be a natural fit with my other businesses.

In conclusion, my senior project for Technology Management caused me to firm up my business goals and planning. As a result I am creating eight (8) Delaware regular corporations. Each corporation has a website and the conglomerate can be viewed at http://www.global-trade-route.com . Three out of the eight corporations that I am building involve games and simulations. So, it is fair to say that games and simulations have taken on substantial importance in my future goals and plans.

About Goals within Cultural Arts

What exactly is Cultural Arts? Cultural arts is too broad a topic to be adequately dealt with in a few lines of text. Wikipedial defines both art and culture. “The arts is a broad subdivision of culture, composed of many expressive disciplines. In modern usage, it is a term broader than "art", which usually means the visual arts (comprising both fine art, decorative art, and crafts). The arts encompasses visual arts, performing arts, language arts, culinary arts, and physical arts.”

It continues to list the following:

  • Architecture
  • Art & Visual arts
  • Crafts
  • Culinary art
  • Dance
  • Decorative art
  • Design
  • Drawing
  • Fashion
  • Film
  • Language
  • Literature
  • Music
  • Opera
  • Painting
  • Photography
  • Poetry
  • Sculpture
  • Theatre & Performing arts
  • Ikebana
  • Video
I am personally involved in 8 of the 21 cultural art forms listed but this cultural arts division of the corporation will seek ways to contribute to and to promote the international cultural arts in larger ways from the profits of Global Trade Route, Inc.'s operations.
